or how was the Kingdom of Hungary governed

Objective:
The course focuses on the history of public administration in Slovakia to the year 1848. After successfully completing the course, the students have an overview of the periodization, status of the ruler, administrative divisions of the country and their institutions, the most important secular and ecclesiastical dignitaries, who played essential role in governing.
Brief outline:
- Definition, subject, terminology and periodization of the history of public administration in Slovakia
- Patrimonial state (monarchy)
- „Hradské španstvo“ („várispánság“), its functionaries and inhabitants
- State (monarchy) in the era of feudal fragmentation
- Noble county and its functionaries
- Estate monarchy
- Absolute monarchy
- King, royal court, royal council and the diet
- Prelates and barons
- Ecclesiastical organization
- Administration of the cities
- Other (economic etc.) functionaries
Graduation Requirements:
- During the semester: preliminary written test (in the 8th week, 50 points).
- In the examination period: written test (50 points). The dates for the tests will be announced through AIS no later than in the last week of the instruction period.
- A maximum of two absences will be accepted. In case of more documentation is required.
