Diplomatics of the Middle Ages

or how to work with medieval Hungarian documents

Objective:

To learn about diplomatic development in Slovakia within the Kingdom of Hungary (until 1526), ​​the ability to diplomatically analyze and critically evaluate diplomatic production from the mentioned period.

Brief outline:

  • Periodization of the development of Hungarian diplomacy
  • Hungarian royal diplomacy in the Middle Ages
  • Non-royal diplomacy in Hungary and its development (with special reference to Slovakia)
  • Diplomatic analysis and criticism of documents of Hungarian provenance until 1526

Graduation Requirements:

  • During the semester: active participation in seminars
  • During the exam period: oral exam. Dates will be posted in AIS no later than the credit week of the semester.
  • Number of acceptable absences: 2.
