Objective:

Upamätovanie as a universal value. Philosophical and sociological assessment of changes in the conception of cultural heritage in the Euro-Atlantic area over the last sixty years. Philosophical aspects of musealization ( Martin Heidegger, Peter Sloterdijk, Zbyněk Zbyslav Stránský). Acceleration of the renewal of the material world. Implications for the creation and presentation of material heritage in particular. Efforts to grasp and understand the past and its subsequent presentation. Intended for: 3rd level of study.

Brief outline:

Basic terminology - heritage, cultural heritage, museum, museology, musealization.
Socio-economic and especially cultural changes in Western society.
Philosophical aspects of musealization - Martin Heidegger, Peter Sloterdijk, Zbyněk Zbyslav Stránský. Jean Baudrillard, Hermann Lübbe, Jiří Žalman, Marcel Lalkovič.
Acceleration of the transformation of the material world. Implications for the creation and presentation of material heritage in particular.
Impacts on the creation and presentation of material heritage in particular. Efforts to grasp and understand the past and its subsequent presentation.

Graduation Requirements:

The instructor will accept a maximum of 2 absences.
Final sixty-minute quiz.
