Presentation of the Monument Fund
or how to do if you own a national cultural monument

Objective:
The course is aimed at linking theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of protection of immovable cultural and technical heritage. Students will gain knowledge about the methodology of restoration of the heritage fund. On the basis of heuristic and archival research, students will gain knowledge about a selected heritage object. The acquired knowledge will be processed by students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU into proposals for conservation or restoration of the monument.
Brief overview:
- Identification and social evaluation of monuments,
- Differentiation of the monument stock, qualitative and generic division of monuments,
- Forms of access to monuments (solitaire, ensemble, complex),
- Monument area and protection zone,
- Monument, open-air, museum and gallery presentation of a monument,
- Monument restoration as a form of presentation,
- Schools and directions of presentation of monuments in Europe,
- International documents and legislation in Slovakia.
Graduation requirements:
- Attendance - 3 hours can be missed without excuse,
- Active completion of ongoing tasks (100%),
- Final assessment during the exam period = 90% (assessment of theoretical and practical knowledge in the form of a test).
