Objective:

During the course, students will learn about the functions and mission of museums, their inclusion in the museum system and in the structure of culture, they will get more detailed information about the type and functional division of museums, their territorial scope and specialization within Slovakia. At the same time, they will gain an orientation in the basic international and national legal norms for the overall protection of cultural heritage.

Functions of the museum and their meaning, features of the museum as an institution, the charter of incorporation,
SWOT analysis,
Museum concepts and their historical development,
Classification of museums in terms of focus, territorial scope and founder,
Breakdown of galleries on the territory of Slovakia,
Museums in nature - open-air museums and New museums,
Museum architecture and functional types of museums and their development, functional museum buildings in Slovakia,
Structure and equipment of museum spaces,
Professional museum institutions (ICOM, Association of Museums in Slovakia, Council of Galleries of Slovakia), awards
Ethics in museums, Code of ethics for museums,
Legal norms for the protection of cultural heritage Performing tasks and activities according to the instructions of the staff of the memory institution.

Graduation requirements:

Attendance - 3 hours can be missed without excuse,
Active completion of ongoing tasks (100%),
Final assessment during the exam period = 90% (assessment of theoretical and practical knowledge in the form of a test).
