Aim of the course:

To develop students' knowledge of museum and gallery pedagogy and didactics in the field of work with the public, especially with children and the youth. To become familiar with the types of programmes used in the field of museum and gallery pedagogy and the basic principles of their preparation.

Brief outline:

  • Introduction to museum and gallery pedagogy, explanation of terms
  • History of the field
  • Types of programmes used in museum and gallery pedagogy
  • Communication with visitors
  • Preparation of educational programmes and worksheets
  • Use of ICT in museum and gallery pedagogy
  • Interactive elements in museums
  • + excursion - participation in a museum and gallery programme

Course requirements:

  • Active participation in lectures (max. 2 absences) and completion of minor assignments during the semester.
  • Final presentation with a program proposal to the selected institution.
