Aim:
The graduate will gain basic theoretical knowledge of the issues and possibilities of digital humanities and practical experience with digital tools technologies. In addition to the theoretical excursion, the student will actively work with selected tools that enable transcription of historical texts, their analysis, visualization of historical objects and data visualization. He will also become familiar with the use and creation of memory portals and digital archives.
Brief outline of the course:
- Introduction to digital humanities (definition, development and significance)
- Basic methods and tools of digital humanities
- Overview of memory portals and digital archives
- Presentation and work with selected web applications in the field of transcription of historical texts
- Presentation and work with selected web applications of Geographical Information System (GIS)
- Presentation and work with software for 3D visualization of historical objects
- Practical work in the field (photo documentation, drone)
Prerequisites:
Seminar work, active participation in class and completion of assignments, 2 accepted unexcused absences.
