Objective:

The course aims to explain the origins and development of the museum phenomenon and museology with a focus on historical collections and the emergence of specialized historical museums. It introduces the concepts of national, regional and municipal historical museums, the collections of the nobility presented in castles, palaces and manor houses. In particular, it introduces specialised museums focusing on the fields of archaeology, church history and the history of fine arts, as well as the history of technology and technology in the fields of military and transport.

• The origins of collecting – monarchical, ecclesiastical, noble and bourgeois collections,
• Castle and chateau museums,
• Regional, municipal and national museums focused on the presentation of history,
• Archaeological museums,
• Art-historical museums,
• Church museums,
• Military museums,
• Maritime and shipping museums.

Graduation requirements:

• Attendance – 3 hours may be missed without excuse,
• Active completion of ongoing tasks (100%),
• Final assessment during the exam period = 90% (assessment of theoretical and practical knowledge in the form of a test).
