Dr. Konstantin Golev is researcher at the Institute for Historical Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and an adjoin researcher at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He obtained his PhD (2013) in Medieval History at the Faculty of History of the same university with a thesis entitled “The Reasons for the Migrations of the Cuman-Qïpchaqs on the Balkans”. He deals with military and political history of the Eurasian nomads and their interaction with the “outside world”. He held research fellowships at various universities and research institutes, among which ELTE – Budapest, Center for Advanced Studies – Sofia, Uludağ University, Bursa, Turkey, British Research Institute at Ankara, etc. He is a fellow of National Scholarship Program, SAIA, at the Department of Slovak history, Comenius University, March – October 2017. His project is “The Region of Slovakia as Contact Zone between the Eurasian Nomads and the Sedentary Civilizations”. Dr. Golev is currently preparing a book on the history of the Cuman-Qïpchaqs in the 11th – 13th centuries and the course of the Mongol Expansion in Dasht-i Qipchāq.
