The Chair of German, Dutch and Scandinavian studies is the one with the longest tradition in Slovakia in all mentioned departments. Their beginnings reach into the twenties of the 20th century. Our students are offered a good and modern studies in teaching or translation and interpretation on bachelor, master or PhD. level with broad possibilities in practical life. Along with outstanding experts in the given fields, giving lectures at home and abroad, foreign lecturers from Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Norway are among our teaching staff. Students have an extensive seminar library, which is persistently completed with modern literature. Thanks to a lot of international contacts, fellowships and grants at universities in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Netherlands and Belgium are offered to our students. The proximity of Vienna and the presence of a lot of institutions like Goethe Institut or Österreich-Bibliothek are a big advantage in getting to know the German speaking world.
