About the ENLIGHT project
About the ENLIGHT project

The ENLIGHT project is a collaboration of ten comprehensive research-oriented universities from different EU countries, supported by the European Commission under the European Universities scheme. Comenius University in Bratislava is one of them. After a pilot four-year project, the ENLIGHT consortium was awarded a grant for a further four-year period in 2023.
Within the ENLIGHT project, the Centre for Scholarship and Teaching is responsible for fostering innovative education. We promote and support innovative pedagogical methods, including the training of UK teachers in these methods, specifically in challenge-based education, which is the ENLIGHT Consortium's flagship pedagogical method.
Each year, our role is to lead a team of experts who select an innovative course to represent Comenius University during the ENLIGHT Consortium's annual Teaching and Learning Awards.
We also encourage faculty to submit a proposal for the ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Conference and help them prepare their proposal so that it has a high chance of being supported. We are involved in the preparation of the conference itself, as well as administratively and organizationally supporting the participation of UK educators. We run workshops and other events as part of the conference.
We moreover help to establish and deepen contacts between teachers from different faculties who find teaching important and want to grow pedagogically, also with the help of the ENLIGHT project.
Each year, the UK reimburses selected participants for the full cost of attending the annual ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Conference. In October 2024, the fourth edition of the conference will take place in Tartu, Estonia, with 20 teachers from our University attending. If you are interested in participating in a future conference or learning more about pedagogical innovations, specifically the challenge-based education method, please do not hesitate to contact us or Team ENLIGHT. We look forward to working with you!
