Studies
The Department of Slovak Literature and Literary Studies provides instruction at undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels.
It offers:
- the programme of studies Slovak language and literature;
- the programme of teachers’ training, combining Slovak language and literature with another discipline; and
- the programme of interpreting and translating, combining Slovak language, culture and literature with a foreign language.
The programmes include courses in history of Slovak literature and in literary criticism, including several levels of classes in theory of literature, as well as courses in interpretation of literary texts, in editing and in creative writing.
The obligatory courses for the bachelor’s degree are Slovak Literature from the 9th until the 19th centuries 1 and 2; 19th century Slovak literature 1, 2 and 3 and Theory of literature 1. Among other optional courses are Theory of literature 2 and 3, Theory of Drama, Czech literature 1 and 2, 20th century Slovak literature, Contemporary Slovak literature, Interpretation of literary texts, Creative writing, and others.
