Master’s Degree Programme
CHARACTERISTICS
During the Master’s programme, students have the opportunity to specialize in the historical period or topic that interests them most. The aim of this level of study is to consolidate previously acquired knowledge and competencies in history and to develop and refine specialized skills within a chosen field.
STUDY PROGRAMMES
History at the Master’s level can be studied as a single-subject programme (Degree Programme in History) or within a teacher-training programme (History in combination with languages or other humanities and natural science disciplines, according to the current offer).
The basic requirement for admission to the Master’s programme is the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in the same or a related field of study corresponding to the chosen Master’s programme.
COURSE OF STUDY
Students attend compulsory and elective courses, conducted primarily in the form of lectures and seminars. At the second level of study, particular emphasis is placed on writing seminar papers and the final Master’s thesis. The Master’s programme concludes with an oral state examination and the defense of the final thesis.
