The graduates of Russian and East European Studies gain theoretical and practical knowledge about the East European region, are able to use two Slavonic languages together with English in their written and spoken forms, as well as to communicate and deal with practical questions concerning the countries of this area. After finishing the studies they can assert themselves in the state administration, third sector, media, culture, international business, tourism and services. Above all the studies concentrate on the language preparation, including the commercial and legal language. The undergraduates gather large-scale knowledge in geography, history, literature and culture of the studied area.


Study field: 2.1.35. Translation Studies and Interpretation

The studies of Russian language and culture focus on the pragmatic aspects of the field. They are based on the theoretical knowledge and practical techniques in the use of language. At the beginning of the intense preparation the students become prompt and independent in the use of the language. They have to cope with phonetics, grammar, lexicology of the Russian language and broaden their vocabulary considerably as well as improve the basic knowledge in history, literature, the language and cultural studies. From the third semester the language abilities are enhanced and transformed into translation and interpreting competences. The future translators and interpreters can study Russian in combination with other languages.
