CLADES – The Power of Language in Education

On May 19–20, 2025, Doc. Ivan Lacko and Doc. Eva Reid from the Department of British and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University, participated in a symposium at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham, UK. The event was held as part of the Erasmus+ project CLADES (Critical Language Awareness, Democratic Engagement and Sustainability).

The symposium was led by renowned ecolinguist Prof. Dr. Arran Stibbe, who is also the lead author of the upcoming online course Eco-narratives and Ethical Leadership. The event focused on finding and identifying stories that shape our relationship with the world – so-called econarratives – and their connection to ethical leadership. The workshops on topics such as eco-poetic activism, critical architectural awareness, environmental short films, green storytelling, and ethical leadership in practice were particularly inspiring.
