Training of Teachers with Acadamic Subject Specialisation
Hungarian Language and Literature
Programmes: Full-Time Teacher Training Programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees (in combination with another subject)
Contents and objectives: at Bachelor’s level the training focuses on the different fields of literary studies (Hungarian literary history, literary history of world literature, literary theory) and linguistic disciplines (phonetics, morphology, syntax, lexicology, stylistics). Master’s training puts special emphasis on the pragmatic competencies of already acquired knowledge but also introduces new scholarly fields of the studies of Hungarian language and literature (general linguistics, sociolinguistics, language history, dialectology, methodology of Hungarian language teaching; general literary studies, Hungarian literature in Slovakia, comparative literary studies, methodology of Hungarian literary education).
Future prospects: graduates of Bachelor’s Degree Programme can work as teacher assistants or teachers at day-boarding services of schools, as well as administrative labour at minority institutions requiring Hungarian language competencies at the highest level. Graduates of Master’s Degree Programme can work as teachers at upper schools of primary education, at secondary schools and language schools, but can also work at other educational or cultural institutions or at administrative or economic levels. Graduates of Master’s Degree Programmes can also continue their studies on Doctoral Degree Programme.
Prerequisites: final leaving examination (maturita) of Hungarian language and literature.
