Doc. PhDr. Jana Bartová, PhD

Jana Bartová is associate professor at the Department of Musicology, Comenius University in Bratislava. She graduated from the same department with a thesis on music historiography of early European modern history. In her research and teaching activities she focuses on early history of music in the European region, including the relationships to Slovak and Central European music, historical organology, instrumentation and historically informed performance practice, musical iconography and museology. She has presented her findings in numerous publications, proceedings as well as at international conferences and visiting lecture series (e. g. in Venice, Budapest, Bydgoszcz, Cracow, Warsaw, Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Kutná Hora). Most notable achievements include critical editions of historical inventories preserved in Slovakia from the 16th-17th centuries (Bratislava, 1994) and the monograph Music in mediaeval visual arts in Slovakia (Bratislava, 1995). Currently she is working on critical edition of sacred music of Daniel Speer.
